300,000 tons/year carbon black plant construction in Xingtai

The 300,000-ton/year carbon black plant, jointly invested by Cabot, the world's largest carbon black producer, and Xuyang Chemical Co., Ltd., the largest coal chemical company in Hebei Province, broke ground in Xingtai, China. The plant has a total investment of nearly 900 million yuan and Cabot has a 60% stake. The construction of this project will further consolidate the status of Cabot as the world's first carbon black producer.

Cabot and Xuyang jointly built a new production capacity of 130,000 tons/year in the first phase of the Xingtai plant, which will increase Cabot's carbon black production capacity in China by 25%. The new plant will adopt the most advanced production technology, high-performance environmental protection measures and comprehensive energy utilization measures, which will help consolidate Cabot’s leading position in energy conservation and emission reduction.

Cabot’s president and CEO, Po Pak Chun, said: “We will be committed to supporting China's growth in liquidity and fulfilling its commitment through a highly sustainable approach. Over the past 20 years, Cabot has invested in process equipment and infrastructure. In order to increase energy efficiency and minimize the impact on the environment, we believe that after the completion of this new plant, we will be able to bring new products to our customers.”
