On October 9th, the 5000 m3/day natural gas methanation industry pilot plant independently designed and completed by the Dalian Institute of Clean Energy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was continuously and stably operated for more than 1000 hours under the condition of the gas source of the Yima Gasification Plant in Henan Province. This is another breakthrough for China in the field of clean coal utilization.
Compared with other coal chemical routes, coal-based natural gas has the advantages of short flow, low water consumption, and high energy efficiency, and is one of the preferred approaches for coal conversion in China. Especially in China's central and western coal-producing provinces where water resources are relatively scarce and coal resources are abundant, it has more obvious technical advantages and promotion significance.
Methanation technology is a key core technology for coal-to-gas projects. However, for a long time, methane synthesis technology and methanation catalyst synthesis technology have been in the hands of developed countries. Prior to the process of coal-based natural gas in China from the air separation to the final environmental protection link, in addition to the methanation process technology has not yet achieved a breakthrough, the other parts have adopted domestically produced technologies and equipment. As the domestic methanation technology and catalysts are not yet operational in large-scale industrialization, domestic coal-based natural gas projects can only introduce foreign technologies, process packages and catalysts at high prices.
After five years of scientific research, Dalian Institute of Chemical Industry has independently developed a complete methanation catalyst with high temperature and hydrothermal stability, and completed an 8000-hour life test in the laboratory. Based on this, the Energy Environmental Engineering Research Group of the Clean Energy National Laboratory integrated the design of the syngas complete methanation industrial pilot plant, and successfully completed the 1,000-hour continuous stability under the industrial gas source of the Yima Gasification Plant in Henan Province. run. The successful operation of this device has laid a solid foundation for China's next industrial application and promotion, and will also lead the rapid development of the coal-based natural gas industry.
