GE Power Conversion Signs Agreement with Oriental Shipbuilding
It is reported that GE Power Conversion Business Unit (NYSE: GE) announced that it has obtained a contract from Oriental Shipbuilding Group in Panama City, Florida, to provide integration for two multi-purpose supply vessels with a horsepower of up to 12,070 BHP (9,000 kW). The diesel power, propulsion and automation control systems were built by the Oriental Shipbuilding Group for Hornbeck Marine Services in Covington, Los Angeles.
Ken Munroe of Oriental Shipbuilding Group said: “GE is committed to providing us with customized solutions including design, installation, commissioning and service, which has enabled us to maintain a strong partnership.â€
In the past four years, GE has signed seven contracts with the Oriental Shipbuilding Group to provide solutions for 24 supply vessels. Recently, Oriental Shipbuilding Group and Hornbeck Marine Services started the construction of 10 drilling platform supply vessels, of which the first ships will also be equipped with GE systems.
The new contract includes the company's two multi-purpose supply vessels. Paul English, head of GE Power Conversion's business unit, said: "GE has cutting-edge technology for power, propulsion and dynamic positioning in the marine engineering industry. The supply vessel's automated control system includes two levels of dynamic positioning, plant management, alarm and monitoring, ship control and an integrated bridge system including a navigation system. Paul Engish added: "We not only work with shipyards, we are also a long-term partner of supply ship owner Hornbeck. In the future, we will provide them with service support, system enhancements and upgrades. We will provide full lifecycle services for supply vessels. ."
