The Arctech Helsinki Shipyard in Finland is building an Arctech icebreaker for the Finnish Transport Agency . It is reported that the German Linde Group will provide LNG gas system for a new icebreaker built by the Arctech Helsinki Shipyard in Finland. The core of the LNG gas system consists of two 400 m3 vacuum insulated storage tanks that will be installed vertically below the deck.
CYRO , part of the engineering division of the Linde Group in Germany, will develop and produce LNG gas systems at its plant in Gothenburg, Sweden. According to the Linde Group, CYRO 's technology helps safe and efficient storage of LNG on board ships of all types.
According to reports, the project has taken an important step for the shipbuilding industry. With increasing sensitivity to the glow and stricter emission standards, it is clear that the use of LNG as a marine fuel is increasing.
The Arctech Icebreaker is a new icebreaker under construction designed to meet the Finnish Department of Transportation's icebreaking mission in the harsh Barents Sea.
The icebreaker will use diesel and LNG as fuel to significantly reduce emissions and operating costs, and the vessel will undertake oil spill handling and emergency towing missions. The icebreaker is expected to be operational in the winter of 2016 .
