Messer and Meifeng build 100,000 tons CO2 plant
China Drying News On January 15, Messer Group of Germany and Sichuan Meifeng Chemical Co., Ltd. signed a joint venture contract to build a liquid carbon dioxide plant with an annual output capacity of 100,000 tons in the Economic Development Zone of Mianyang City, Sichuan Province.
The new company will invest 60 million yuan, which will be Messer's first CO2 plant built in China. The new plant is expected to start production in the second quarter of 2014.
Sichuan Meifeng will provide carbon dioxide feedstock gas for the new plant. The carbon dioxide emissions from Meifeng's production of chemical products such as ammonia and ammonium nitrate will be recycled at the new plant to produce food grade carbon dioxide.
