Seaonics Receives Polar Research Ship Equipment Package Order

Vard Holdings Ltd. (VARD) has obtained a contract through its subsidiary Seaonics to deliver equipment packages for a polar research ship under construction. It is reported that this large equipment package is worth more than 100 million Norwegian kroner ($13.02 million). The new ship is being built by the shipyard of Fincantieri, Italy. The complete equipment package delivered by Seaonics will include winches, deck cranes and A-frames and retractable systems.

StigEspeseth , General Manager of Seaonics, said, "Since the establishment of our company in 2011, we have continued to expand our product range and are now able to deliver a complete package of marine processing equipment."

In December 2013, the Norwegian Government's Ship Research Institute (IMR) and Fincantieri signed a contract for the construction of an icebreaker worth 175 million euros. The vessel will be named "KronprinsHaakon" and will be owned by the Norwegian Polar Institute and will operate in polar waters.

       Before the delivery, the icebreaker will conduct a sea trial at the VARD in Norway. VARD is also a member of the Fincantieri Group.
