According to the US Edmunds Auto Network reported on February 1, Dave Zuchowskis, CEO of Hyundai America, said that Hyundai's five-seat full-size sedan will be eliminated and no replacement models will be introduced.
Zuchowski pointed out that the large car market in which Yazun is located has not seen growth in recent years. Even if the market is withdrawn, it will not have much impact on the company. The time for Yazun to delist has not been announced, but said that the current car will continue to sell at least until 2017.
The current Yazun was redesigned in 2012. Its counterparts include the Chevrolet Impala, Ford Taurus and Toyota Asia Dragon. The 2016 Yazun has undergone some upgrades, including a smart cruise control system with start-stop. Yazun's current starting price is $34995, including $895 shipping.
Zuchowski expects that once Yazun is eliminated, Hyundai sedan buyers will choose the Sonata midsize sedan or the Hyundai Giens G70. In March, the G70 concept car will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show and will be launched in 2017.
