On December 18, it was learned from relevant departments of Tianjin Petrochemical Company that Tianjin Petrochemical Company and Air Liquide (China) Investment Co., Ltd. had officially signed an air separation joint venture contract, signifying that the cooperation between the two parties has entered a substantive implementation stage.
According to Tianjin Petrochemical Company, the project is the first cooperation between Air Liquide and Sinopec. Tianjin Petrochemical's 1 million-tonne ethylene per annum project is a national key construction project for the “Eleventh Five-Year Planâ€. It is a landmark project for the development and opening up of the Tianjin Binhai New Area and a leading project for the construction of a national petrochemical industrial base in Tianjin. The air separation system, which is one of the major supporting projects for Tianjin's one million tons/year ethylene, is very important for enhancing the core competitiveness of Sinopec and driving the economic development of Tianjin and even the whole country. The commencement of this project provided an opportunity for the joint venture and cooperation between Tianjin Petrochemical and Air Liquide. At the same time, the construction project for air separation also created new business opportunities and markets for Air Liquide in France, realizing the strong alliance between Tianjin Petrochemical Company and Air Liquide Air France, for mutual benefit and win-win results.
